Mete Coban is Deputy Mayor of London for Environment and Energy and a founding member of the Board of Trustees of My Life My Say, a youth-led, non-partisan charity amplifying youth voices and engaging young people from underrepresented communities in decision-making. He was the youngest-ever elected councilor in the London Borough of Hackney and served as a cabinet member for climate change, environment, and transportation, leading Hackney Council’s response to the climate crisis. Previously, Mete worked on the campaign for the Mayor of London, focusing on youth engagement. Born in Northern Cyprus to asylum-seeking parents, Mete moved to the United Kingdom as a child. His journey as an asylum seeker drives his commitment to giving marginalized groups a voice in democracy.
