Girls Opportunity Alliance helps girls' sports and leadership program expand to Chicago’s South Side
See how Girls in the Game is empowering girls through sports programming to develop their health, leadership, and life skills.
Girls in the Game knows the power of sports.
Serving girls ages 7 to 18, Girls in the Game empowers participants through sports programming to develop their health, leadership, and life skills. Its mission is to help girls find their strength and build their confidence as the next generation of leaders.
Girls in the Game uses a sports-based youth development model, incorporating basketball, lacrosse, yoga, soccer, and other activities to foster positive outcomes in girls' lives. The programs are offered at little to no cost to participants and their families; the organization also provides transportation to offsite locations when possible, removing a barrier that often prevents girls from participating.
The Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund supported the expansion of the organization’s after-school programming in three new schools on the South Side of Chicago. Along with learning new sports, girls will also engage in health lessons and leadership development workshops.
